How Does Qiteng Therapy Work?

1. When Traditional External Therapies Meet Modern Needs

The history of external therapies in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is long and rich. From the “ironing therapy” recorded in the Yellow Emperor’s Inner Canon to the later developments of herbal steaming, topical plasters, and medicinal baths, ancient TCM practitioners had already recognised that medicines do not always have to be taken orally to be effective.

Qiteng Therapy is an innovative evolution built upon this traditional foundation. It inherits the essence of classical external‑application formulas and integrates modern technological approaches to form a distinctive TCM external‑treatment system.

Unlike conventional oral medications, Qiteng Therapy is a topical treatment. It does not require digestion and absorption through the gastrointestinal tract, nor does it add to the metabolic burden of the liver. Instead, the active components of the herbal formula are delivered directly through the skin to the affected areas and associated meridians and acupoints.

The main advantages of this delivery route are: direct action, the shortest pathway, and minimal interference with other bodily systems.

2. How Does Qiteng Therapy Work?

2.1 Warm Herbal Vapour: Turning “Medicine” into “Inhalable Airflow”

The core mechanism of Qiteng Therapy is to transform specially formulated herbal ingredients into warm medicinal vapour. This vapour carries the active compounds and acts on the body in a gaseous state.

The advantage of a gaseous form lies in its permeability. While liquid medicines must overcome the skin barrier to enter the body, vapourised medicines can more easily penetrate through skin pores, hair follicles, and acupoints. The warm environment further promotes the dilation of pores and accelerates local blood circulation, creating favourable conditions for deeper absorption of the active ingredients.

2.2 Targeted Action: Precisely Acting on Key Junctions of Signal Transmission

Qiteng Therapy is not a non‑specific “whole‑body steaming”. Based on TCM meridian theory, it precisely targets areas and acupoints that are closely related to reproductive function.

These targeted areas include the abdomen, lumbosacral region, and other key zones. The lumbosacral region is precisely where the lumbar nerve plexuses are distributed, which are intimately connected with the innervation of pelvic organs such as the ovaries and uterus. By applying continuous warm herbal vapour to these areas, Qiteng Therapy can directly improve local blood circulation and the neural conduction environment in the lumbar spine.

At the same time, the cervical region is also a focus of Qiteng Therapy. As a critical passage for brain commands descending downwards, the condition of the cervical spine directly influences the function of the hypothalamic‑pituitary‑ovarian axis. By acting on the cervical region, the therapy helps improve qi‑blood supply and neural conduction conditions in the neck.

2.3 Dredging Meridians: Restoring Unobstructed Pathways for Signal Transmission

In TCM theory, meridians are the channels through which qi and blood circulate and also the carriers of information transmission. When meridians are unobstructed, qi and blood flow smoothly, and information transmission proceeds without hindrance. When meridians are blocked, both circulation and signal conduction are impaired.

Through the action of warm herbal vapour, Qiteng Therapy can gradually break down and expel metabolic accumulations lodged in the meridians. These expelled substances may form scabs that fall off from the skin surface – a visible sign that stagnant materials are being cleared from the body.

Once the blockages are cleared, the meridians regain their patency. Fresh qi and blood can be redistributed to various tissues and organs, and those areas that were previously deprived of adequate nourishment due to meridian obstruction begin to receive the nutrients and signals needed for repair.

3. Why May Qiteng Therapy Be Beneficial for PCOS?

3.1 Addressing the Root Cause, Not Just the Surface Manifestations

The challenges of PCOS often do not originate solely in the ovaries themselves, but rather in the misdirection or attenuation of signals between the brain and the ovaries.

The therapeutic strategy of Qiteng Therapy focuses on repairing this signal‑transmission pathway. It does not forcibly “command” the ovaries to ovulate; instead, it works to improve the condition of the cervical and lumbar spine, clear meridian obstructions, and optimise the neural conduction environment – so that the brain’s instructions can reach the ovaries clearly and completely.

When the command channel is restored, the ovaries receive the correct signals and can respond appropriately.

3.2 Holistic Regulation, Not Isolated Intervention

PCOS is never an isolated “ovarian problem”; it involves multiple systems, including endocrine, metabolic, and neural regulation.

The strength of Qiteng Therapy lies in its holistic approach. It does not view PCOS as a single localised lesion, but rather considers it within the context of the entire human system. Cervical issues, lumbar issues, meridian blockages, and qi‑blood deficiencies – these seemingly separate problems, from the perspective of Qiteng Therapy, all point to the same core: a breakdown in the signal‑transmission pathway.

By comprehensively addressing the cervical spine, lumbar spine, abdomen, lumbosacral region, and other relevant areas, Qiteng Therapy can simultaneously improve multiple aspects of the problem, thereby helping to restore the overall patency of the signal‑transmission route.

3.3 Gentle and Sustained, Suitable for Long‑Term Support

As an external therapy, Qiteng Therapy is non‑oral and does not impose additional burden on the liver or kidneys. Its active ingredients are absorbed through the skin, providing a stable and sustained delivery over time.

This gentle nature makes Qiteng Therapy suitable for long‑term, consistent use. Improving PCOS‑related conditions often takes time – repairing the signal‑transmission pathway and supporting ovarian function recovery are not overnight processes. Patience and persistence are themselves important components of the therapeutic journey.

4. A Different Option

Qiteng Therapy represents a different treatment philosophy.

It does not use external force to “replace” the body’s own functions, but rather helps the body restore its natural regulatory abilities. It does not fixate solely on the ovaries as a single point, but looks at the entire signalling pathway between the brain and the ovaries. It does not pursue rapid “surface improvements”, but is committed to addressing the underlying “channel repair”.

When the signals flow, the body naturally knows what to do.
